The Reunion: Week 1

It had been a year since Wannabe or any of the other moguls had seen or heard of Willo. The last news out of Kenya was that the man had gone native and was clearing house with cheap rip-offs of Mel Gibson flicks. Not a bad business, if you can afford the heat.

Swoosh! A car zoomed past, sloshing the curbside with the mud of the decadent trashy city. A city that would soon replace the soggy Armani clothes on Wannabe's back.

The car swerved around the corner and stopped on the otherside of the block. The sign was given. A light flashed off a lamp post 20 meters away. Wannabe smiled, looking forward to another crooked drawing to be held in a basement lit by gaslights and torches...something of a tradition according to GoS. He always seemed to have a thing for secrets and skullduggery...a fact that no detective could prove. But one thing Wannabe could prove, was that he liked a good challenge.

Wannabe clutched his briefcase closer to him and pulled out a copy of The Phony Express, letting it soak in the lovely pellets beginning to fall above him again. The picture of Willo and the story of his return and buyback of his old failing studios from the bartender absorbing, expanding, and tearing downward as Wannabe rushed toward the stairs of the parking lot. Most people look both ways before crossing the street, but not Wannabe. After all, this was a private affair, and it wouldn't do to have uninvited guests. Quickly, Wannabe descended the stairs into the blackness of the stairwell...and vanished from the street.

Or so he thought. Across the street in the alley, somebody saw and somebody followed.

Once he reached the bottom, Wannabe quickly rapped out the ridiculous tune to allow him entrance. A shave and a haircut. Seriously? Castle was beginning to lose it mentally. Hopefully this would follow over into the draft. A panel pulled back to reveal two bushy hairy eyebrows and a quizzical expression.

"Catchy, ain't it?"

Wannabe shook his head as he pushed the door open. The room was not bright, but it was bright enough. Everyone was there. Castle was just walking to his seat, a constant bewildered look on his face. GoS only had his foot inching out of the shadow in the corner, a sign that everyone should know he was there. And Willo...well, Willo was sitting at the table, snoozing in full war paint. Red streaks under his eyes only accentuated the bloodshot quality when he opened them and stared. It was going to be a long night, and with the few picks they had, it would get interesting.

Although Wannabe pulled out the picks and prepared for the draft, he noticed that Willo was no longer watching him, but was looking behind him...at the door. As was Castle...and GoS's foot was now missing. Completely hidden.

Turning toward the doorway, Wannabe noticed a silhouette, a female silhouette obscuring the doorway.

"May we help you?"

"I want in."

"I'm sorry?"

"You heard me. Count me in"

"I'm afraid this is exclusive."

She threw something at Wannabe...a million dollars wrapped in a string.

"That should be enough to start. I'm in and I have my own studio. You might not know me now, but you will.Just call me LSS"

GoS's foot creeped out of the corner and tapped whimsically on the floor.The bastard apparently approved. Castle merely mumbled and tried to grab the money. Willo gave his best death grimace, a sign of enjoying a challenge. And Wannabe...

"Fine."
